Hon. Dr. Christopher Kalila MP

Dr. Kalila, born on January 6th, 1966, embarked on a journey that intertwined medicine with public service. With a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Medical Degree (MBchB) under his belt, he committed over seventeen years to healing as a dedicated General and Family Practitioner.

In 2008, Dr. Kalila’s path veered towards politics when he was nominated to Parliament and appointed Deputy Minister of Youth Sports. This marked the beginning of his dual role as a healer and a policymaker. His expertise in healthcare saw him transition to the Ministry of Works and Supply in 2009, and subsequently to the role of Deputy Minister of Health in 2010. As his dedication to public service deepened, Dr. Kalila stood for election and secured the Lukulu East Parliamentary seat in 2011, a position he held for five years.

During this tenure, he not only represented his constituency but also chaired the Parliamentary Committee on Education, emphasizing the importance of knowledge and learning in shaping a better society. Re-elected in 2016, Dr. Kalila continued to advocate for the health and well-being of his constituents. His leadership extended to chairing the Parliamentary Committee on Health, Community Development, and Social Services, where he tirelessly worked to address pressing healthcare issues and promote community development.

Beyond his medical qualifications, Dr. Kalila’s pursuit of knowledge led him to attain a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, enriching his capacity to navigate the complex intersections of healthcare and governance.

Married and with a steadfast commitment to serving his community, Dr. Kalila remains a beacon of dedication, bridging the realms of medicine and public policy for the betterment of society.
